General Overview
Gheorgheni (Hungarian: Gyergyószentmiklós) is the third largest town in Harghita County and the historical center of the former Giurgeu Seat. The town is located 59 km northwest of Miercurea Ciuc, on the alluvial fan of the Békény Stream, at the eastern edge of the Giurgeu Basin.
The altitude of the town ranges between 740 and 820 meters above sea level and it is surrounded by:
