Location and Climate Sovata is located in the heart of Transylvania, in the northeastern part of Mureș County, at the center of the Salt Region, at the foot of the Harghita Mountains, at approximately 500 meters above sea level. The town is an excellent starting point for star-shaped tours, being about 60 km from Târgu Mureș (approximately 1 hour by car according to Google Maps), 140 km from Cluj-Napoca (about 2 hours), 50 km from Sighișoara (about 1 hour), and 150 km from Brașov (about 2 hours 30 minutes). The nearest airport is in Târgu Mureș, from where the drive to Sovata takes 1 hour.
